Search on for La Trinidad Miss Strawberry
By Jane Cadalig

CANDIDATES vying for the Miss Strawberry crown have identified ways on how they could help sustain the strawberry industry of La Trinidad.

Some want to help maintain the agricultural areas planted with strawberries, while others want to help develop technologies to process the fruit.

Eight lass from different villages in the town are vying for this year's Miss Strawberry title.

Yumiko Claire Rivera, a Home Economics graduate, said she would help educate strawberry farmers and processors on the technologies of processing the fruit, while Junessa Dawayen of Barangay Balili and Jenny Claire Camilo of Barangay Bahong said they would help advocate for the preservation of the environment to maintain the strawberry industry.

Mylene Bugtong, of Barangay Buyagan, said she would help look for sponsors of programs that are geared towards the promotion and development of the strawberry industry.

Hermay Soriano, Sally Reboledo and Genera Falag-ey said they would continue promoting the town's strawberries to outsiders.

The candidates were presented to members of the local media last Wednesday.

The search for Miss Strawberry is part of the 10-day Strawberry Festival of La Trinidad, which starts on Saturday.

Coronation will be held on Sunday at the municipal gymnasium at 6:30 p.m.
