Sunday, March 16, 2008 1st Baguio Airsoft friendship game set on March 22
THE Baguio Airsoft Group (BAG) will be conducting the first Baguio Airsoft friendship game on March 22 at the Camp John Hay grounds.
BAG president Dodie Diño said the friendship game with the theme "Operation Black Saturday" will be conducted at the whole of Scout Hill and the former Voice of America (VOA) grounds.
The game will start at 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. However, a night game could be an option for the players.
Airsoft teams from Pangasinan, La Union, Ilocos and other areas are invited to join the game.
A gaming fee of P300 will be collected from each player to cover the use of the area, lunch, snacks, water and a printed t-shirt instead of certificates, which would be provided after the game.
According to Diño, the invitational game seeks to foster camaraderie, promote physical fitness, and enhance self-confidence and sportsmanship, but primarily for relaxation and enjoyment the game.
Diño added that during the registration, the toy firearm should pass the chrono examination similar on what is being done on real gun shoot-fest.
A maximum 450 feet per second (fps) capability would be allowed for each firearm. "This would ensure the safety of the players, higher fps would not be allowed in the game since it is not a competition but only fun game," he said.
He emphasized wearing of masks is mandatory to protect players.
He also said a briefing on safety procedures will be conducted before the game.
Marshals will be posted in strategic areas as overseers and a medical team will be stationed on a strategic area in case of emergencies. Players will be required to sign a waiver.
The organizers will also be hosting a get-together party for players so they may become friendly with each other and to exchange ideas on how to encourage other young people and adults to get into airsoft. BAG currently has 200 members.
"We hope this first friendship airsoft game will be the start of more fruitful games which would attract not only local but also foreign airsoft groups to visit the City of Baguio," Diño added. (FM)
