Boy nabbed for marijuana

A MINOR was arrested and jailed after he was caught smoking marijuana in public at Lower Rock Quarry, a police report said.

To aggravate his situation, the community police auxiliary member or barangay tanod who caught him also found a package of the illegal drug in his possession, after the citizen's arrest.

The minor was said to be 17, an out-of-school youth from San Carlos City, Pangasinan, and who resides in the barangay.

The person who arrested the minor was named Rodrigo Bautista, a community police auxiliary member of the same place.

Seized from the youth at 8 a.m. of March 29 was a clear plastic bag containing an estimated 14.02 grams of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops wrapped in two torn notebook pages.

According to an uncle of the boy, he was already put through a six-month rehabilitation program outside of Baguio earlier, but when he went drinking with his gangmates from the same barangay afterwards, he vowed to get back at his family for having him rehabilitated by "destroying their reputation in their neighborhood."

After the minor's arrest, he was turned over by his uncle to the Baguio police's Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group under Chief Inspector Santos Sumingwa.

The body was temporarily detained at the Baguio City Jail pending his return to another rehabilitation center. (ENO)
