Baguio SK Federation holds budgeting seminar

A TOTAL of 101 Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) leaders and council representatives from 63 Baguio barangays attended a seminar on SK functions, budgeting, auditing and accounting procedures at Teachers Camp earlier this week.

SK Federation president and Councilor Gloria Ysabel de Vera explained that the seminar is aimed at orienting all SK officials on how to prepare their budgets and how to properly disburse SK funds.

"This will be beneficial to the SK chairpersons, as well as their treasurers, as they will be provided with the knowledge on how to prepare necessary documents such as purchase requests, canvass forms and the like, as well as the standard procedures for their bids and awards committees," she said.

De Vera said their SK Federation executive committee finds the seminar as a necessary tool to assist them in following certain guidelines in the disbursement of funds, for the implementation of various SK programs and projects in the city, and that is why they requested for its conduct.

"We intend to have all SK chairpersons and at least one councilman in each of our barangays to attend this seminar," she said.

According to her, the seminar that they held from March 31 to April 1 was only for the first batch, and that a second batch of participants will also attend a similar seminar at the same venue, the NEAP Hall of Teachers Camp, on April 10-11 this year.

The seminar, which was initiated by the Baguio SK Federation executive committee headed by de Vera, was facilitated by the Government Association of Certified Public Accountants and the Department of the Interior and Local Government city office.

She said those who would want to join the second batch of trainees need to confirm their slots at the Baguio SK Federation office until the end of office hours on April 3. (ENO)
