Friday, April 04, 2008 BSP, NSO hold consumer expectation survey
THE National Statistics Office (NSO) is conducting the Consumer Expectation Survey (CES) in partnership with Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) this month.
A Consumer Expectations Survey is a quarterly household-based survey that helps the public in having a better understanding of the responsibilities of the BSP related to the forces of supply and demand, safety and efficiency of financial transactions, and promotion of healthy competition in banking and other financial services.
It also assesses the economic situation, overall performance of the government and financial situation of the consumers.
The survey focuses on three areas of consumer sentiment like personal finances, business stipulations and buying conditions.
It will also provide a quick and regular assessment of the economic condition of the country at the present and near future, as well as to present quick and regular evaluation of income and expenditures.
The survey also generates forecasts in the direction of the country's economic activity based on the outlook of the consumer in the next 12 months.
For the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), the provinces of Apayao, Benguet and Kalinga will take part in the CES.
CES has been conducted in the National Capital Region (NCR) for 10 consecutive quarters and is being undertaken in about 2500 sample households in 52 provinces outside the NCR for the first time. (Press release)
