Monday, April 21, 2008 Cop nabbed for indiscriminate firing
A POLICEMAN was arrested and locked up in jail after he allegedly fired his issued firearm indiscriminately in Dizon Subdivision late Friday afternoon.
He was reportedly irked when his landlady responded to a heated altercation between him and his live-in partner, resulting in the cop firing his gun.
The arrested policeman was identified as Police Officer (PO) 3 Karl June Tabernero, 31, married, a member of the Philippine National Police (PNP), who is assigned to Station One of the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) and who boards here at 35 Kalapati Street, Dizon Subdivision.
The complainant in this alarm and scandal case was named as Leila Delim Chamollog, 26, married, a housewife from Buga, Sagada, Mountain Province and a resident of the same address.
According to Chamollog, she was talking with her sister-in-law in the fourth floor of the same house, at around 5:45 p.m. of April 18, when she heard a commotion in the first floor, prompting her to see what was happening.
Upon reaching the ground floor, she saw Tabernero and his live-in partner, Irene Arceles, shouting at each other.
After Arceles came rushing to her, asking for help and at the same time shouting to Tabernero, "I don't like you anymore. Ate, he is going to kill me," the policeman was said to have loaded his issued firearm and fired once into the air.
When a police team responded to the area, they arrested Tabernero and subsequently detained him in the Baguio City Jail, upon the instructions of duty inquest Prosecutor Conrado Catral Jr. (EO)
