The tradition started about three years ago when the city's main thoroughfare was closed to vehicular traffic and used as a promenade area as well as an asphalted canvass where various drawings using colored chalk are drawn there. The road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
At the Maryknoll Sanctuary, activities have also been set for the Earth Day. A free viewing of the documentary "The Inconvenient Truth" as well as lectures on preservation will be showcased.
Earlier, Baguio Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. ordered all City Government offices to turn off power for one hour to conserve electricity as well as to reduce the effects of global warming.
The one-hour blackout was also observed by several big consumers of electricity in Baguio and in Metro Manila. (RO)
