IN GEOMETRY, an enneagram is a nine-pointed figure. More often than not, versions of said figure resemble stars. Color them, and they glow... These serve as the bases for the psychological use of the word enneagram to define nine personality types and how to manage them.
Next weekend, from June 27-29, these nine personality types are the main course in an Enneagram Workshop at the Maryknoll Ecological Sanctuary, where self-discovery is always the work in progress it should be. Workshop facilitator is Sr. Therese Kastner, MM. Kastner is an expert on this ancient Enneagram system of understanding self and others for more harmonious relationships, intra-personal and interpersonal. She is also the author of a book on the subject, soon to be published by Claretian, the international Catholic missionary organization.
The objective of the workshop is for participants to better understand themselves, the nine personality types, and how to manage these given the complex world/s we live in. The workshop presents the enneagram as a tool to effect psychological and spiritual growth. Through it, strengths and weaknesses are identified, along with strategies for dealing with the world, its depths, heights, and all in between.
