Saturday, June 28, 2008 Philhealth wants remittance reports monthly By Ernie N. Olson Jr.
THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (Philhealth) requires all employers in the private and government sectors to submit their remittance reports (RF1) on a monthly basis starting August this year.
Maggie del Rosario of the Philhealth regional office said this is to ensure the regular updating of employee contribution records to avoid inconvenience during hospitalization or availing of benefits.
She said Philhealth Circular 9-2008, issued last May, modified the quarterly submission of remittance reports into a monthly obligation.
Del Rosario explained the circular provide all employers, including those who submit in diskette form, must submit their reports on or before the 15th day after the applicable month.
"Thus, for the month of July 2008, employers based in the Cordillera are expected to submit their remittance reports to our regional office or to any of our field offices in the provinces of Abra, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province on or before August 15, 2008," she said.
In the meantime, the quarterly remittance report for the months of April to June 2008 may be submitted until July 15, 2008.
Del Rosario said that RF1 contains the names and Philhealth identification numbers (PINs) of the employees and a declaration of their individual monthly salary brackets (MSB).
She said indicating the correct MSB would back their office's monitoring efforts so appropriate premiums are paid and no underpayment is incurred.
"Employees are directed to secure a PIN to facilitate the uploading of premium payment information into Philhealth's contributions database," she reminded.
Relative to this, del Rosario continued, employers are also reminded of the deadline of payment of monthly premiums, which is on the 10th day of the succeeding month. She stressed that failure to remit will warrant the filing of appropriate charges against the erring employer.
Del Rosario pointed out that personnel of the Philhealth regional office are very willing to personally assist employers in the proper accomplishment of their monthly reports.
She said for more details, interested persons may visit their collection section at the fourth floor of the Social Security System (SSS) building at Harrison Road in Baguio City or they may also inquire through telephone numbers (074)444-9862 and (074)444-8361 local 4007.
