UB was chosen by the group as the host school for the first regional workshop on acting and directing because of its program in mass communication.

Gallaga is known for his career in creative and technical film and television programs. He directed his first feature-length film in 1973. He won the top prize of the Experimental Cinema of the Philippines Screenwriting Competition for "Oro, Plata, Mata" (Gold, Silver, Death) in 1981.

He directed more than 20 films in partnership with Lore Reyes who has likewise been a longtime associate in Gallaga's other passion - conducting acting, directing and production workshops for film and television talents and filmmakers.

The two-day workshop, which was organized by the Mass Communication Department in coordination with the Association of Philippine Colleges of Arts and Sciences, is open to all interested students and teachers all over the Cordillera Region.
