Monday, July 07, 2008 Fariñas wants TB action plan
WITH P500,000 allotted for the city's anti-tuberculosis (TB) campaign, the City Health Services Office (CHSO) was asked to submit its action plan for the implementation of the campaign.
Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas asked the CHSO to come up with a massive campaign and program on tuberculosis to prevent or even stop the spread of the disease.
He said the CHSO should also include in its action plan assistance to those who have been afflicted with the disease.
"Advocacy must be continuing so spread of the disease can be controlled," Fariñas said.
The allocation came from the office of Baguio Representative Mauricio Domogan.
TB is an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs. It affects people of all ages but is more common among the elderly and those with weak immune system.
Among infants, TB can be prevented through vaccination of Bacillus Calmette Guerin (BCG). (RO)
