"With the entries we can now short-list the final entries for the top awards," said Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC), Incorporated president Pigeon Lobien.

Meetings will take place in the next two weeks among members of the awards committee headed by BCBC vice president for television Marlon Marvil, print vice president Larry Madarang and editors and station managers of local outfits.

The first meeting will be on July 8 at 1 p.m. in Luisa's Café. The next meeting on July 12 at 5 p.m. will be for the final list of entries.

The judges will have one week to rate the entries.

Around 17 awardees, whose works have contributed or made a mark on the industry will be honored in the Oscar-like awards night.

Marvil said the eight categories in the print division are: best news story, best feature, best sports story, best photo, best column, best editorial, best editorial cartoon, and best headline writing.

In the radio division it will be: best field reportage, best news commentary, best news program, and best public service program.

The television division has five categories namely: best field reportage, best news commentary, best magazine program, best news program, and best public service program. (BCBC)
