Saturday, July 26, 2008 BCPO hopes for 5th police office award
IN A bid to win its fifth award as best city police office nationwide, the Baguio City Police Office "showed off" during its annual general inspection conducted last Monday.
This, after the Annual General Inspection-Operational Readiness Security Inspection Test and Evaluation (AGI-Orsite) was conducted by a team from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters at the BCPO last July 21.
"Our office hopes to maintain its title as the country's best city police office for 2008. The AGI-Orsite becomes a tougher and more challenging one each year because competition is seriously and religiously being taken by other regional offices in their aim to be the best," explained Senior Superintendent Florante Camuyot, officer-in-charge (OIC) of the BCPO.
"All concerted efforts to surpass our previous accomplishments inspired the men and women of the BCPO to take the challenge and do better. The BCPO strives hard to achieve excellence as a display of its commitment to its sworn duties," Camuyot continued.
"I believe we have done everything we can, and our fate is now in the hands of the One above and with our inspection team, who will determine what we truly deserve," he said.
During the inspection, different scenarios were demonstrated like the BCPO's camp defense plan, fire plan, low risk and high risk checkpoint scenarios, hostage negotiation, first-aid test, civil disturbance management, bomb disposal test, close quarter battle, crime scene investigation, mobility test, immediate action drill, arrest-search and handcuffing techniques, communication test, response time, sniping test and bank robbery test, to assess the abilities, preparedness and efficiency of the personnel.
"The participants displayed their prowess, potentials and competence which were prepared for the AGI team, spearheaded Senior Superintendent Antonio Tanchoco to judge," Camuyot said.
"The will to excel drives our personnel to be at their best performance. Service is our priority and the Baguio police will not tolerate anyone or anything that will disturb the peace and order of the city," he added.
In earlier reports, the BCPO was a recipient of the best city police office award nationwide four times -- in 2002, 2003, 2006 and 2007 -- and hopes to bring home the bacon once again this year.
