Tuesday, August 26, 2008 Save Our Women poster-making contest ends Tuesday
THE deadline for the submission of entries to the Save our Women poster making contest for high school and college students region-wide has been set on Tuesday.
According to Patti Gallardo, president of Stop the Abuse and Violence (Save) against our Women, this was to give time for a three-day public exhibit of all participating entries from August 29 to 31, and the final judging of the top three winners in each category on the last day.
Aside from a special award for the choice of their members, cash prizes of P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000 will be given to the top three winners in each category, respectively.
Gallardo said certificates of recognition will also be presented afterwards to all participating students and their schools.
She said contestants must be aged 13 to 21 years old, and must be currently enrolled in any high school, college or university within the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
Upon registration, a contestant will pay a non-refundable P100 fee for each entered poster, inclusive of the numbered entry form and the official 15" x 20" poster board required for use in the contest.
In case the poster board taken by the contestant will be damaged, this may be replaced upon payment of P65, provided the damaged board is also presented.
Although all submitted entries will automatically become the property of Save our Women, the name and school of the contestant will always be included in any public display or medium of distribution in the campaign against intimate relationship abuse and domestic violence.
Gallardo said Save our Women is a non-stock, non-profit, non-sectarian and non-political organization of dedicated women and men who aim to further the advocacy of preventing and mitigating violence against women and children.
Aimed to change the age-old norms regarding the rights and value of women in society, they also aim to instill in people's minds a distaste or revulsion for any form of violence against women, and plan to reach as many people as possible in their goal to awaken them to the facts and realities of violence against women around them.
The Save our Women headquarters, where entries will be accepted, is based in Fantastich located at Room C-101 of Lopez building at the corner of Session and Assumption Roads. (ENO)
