Mayor: Let councilors decide on truck ban
By Rimaliza Opiña

BAGUIO Mayor Reinaldo Bautista Jr. left it to the City Council to decide whether to allow permanent use of Kennon Road.

In the meantime, the mayor said the ban will be imposed except for those which will be granted an exemption, in an administrative order (AO) that will be issued soon.

"Let the City Council decide," the mayor said in a recent briefing. He said he signed the ordinance banning use of the Baguio portion of Kennon Road to preserve its historical meaning to the people of Baguio.

Vegetable delivery trucks from Benguet earlier used as alternative route, Kennon Road but ended up being apprehended by the police for violation of a city ordinance.

The AO will contain among others the conditions for use such as, this should be limited to vegetable delivery trucks only and on the way back to Baguio, Marcos Highway would have to be the route to take.
