Juco leads JVG vs Tea House in Centennial Cup
By Roderick Osis

NELSON Juco unleashed 15 of his 25-point output in the second half to lead the JVG Dental Center against Teahouse in Bracket A of the ongoing Centennial Cup Basketball Invitational 75-66.

The win puts the Dental Center at the top of their Bracket with five wins against a loss putting idle Beneco in second place with four wins and one loss handed by JVG.

Tea House took an early lead in the first period, 15-10 and JVG played catch up for the rest of the first half of the ballgame when Juco erupted with a 10-point performance in the second quarter with teammate Arnel Santos who also poured in 10 points in the first half to put the Dental Center down by one, 28-27 with 1:03 remaining in the second period.

Juco then scored an easy two to cap the second quarter with JVG on the driver's seat, 28-29.

JVG then relied on Juco and Santos together with Jerry Rigos to pull the Dental Center by four with 7:43 left in the third quarter.

Juco seemed unstable inside the paint with his acrobatic shot while Teahouse seemed lost inside the hard court with no probable answer against the prolific airborne scorer, to end the quarter with a 17-point lead at the end of the third period, 61-44.

But Tea House remained in the contention, thanks to the three-point shootings of Campos Sangyen, unleashing four triples together with Paul Catbagan's three treys to cut JVG's lead to 11 with 3:59 left in the ballgame, 59-70.

Despite efforts of Tea House to notch their second defeat against four setbacks, Juco then returned in the ballgame teaming once again with Santos and Rigos to finally put the game at bay, 75-64, with 1:37 left in the clock.

JVG was passed by Juco's 25 points together with Santos and Rigos' 17 and 10 points respectively while Tea House led by Catbagan's 21-point output performance with the help of Campos' 18 markers.
