Sunday, September 07, 2008 Town allots fund for common health trust fund
IN A bid to better the delivery of health services, the Itogon Municipal Government allotted a portion of its 20 percent development fund to be deposited in a common health trust fund of seven health facilities.
Town officials approved the allocation of one percent of the more than P13 million annual development fund for the Inter-Local Health Zone Common Health Trust Fund.
The inter-local health zone seeks to merge the resources of seven health facilities for the common delivery of health services.
The Bliistt (Benguet General Hospital, La Trinidad, Itogon, Itogon Municipal Hospital, Sablan, Tuba and Tublay) inter-local health zone common health trust fund was initiated by provincial health officials and mayors of the concerned municipalities in a bid to share resources for improved delivery of health care services.
To realize the initiative, Itogon officials mandated the allocation of one percent of the town's yearly 20 percent development fund for the Bliistt common health trust fund.
They are obliged to automatically set aside the allocation in the preparation of the yearly budget, and the amount shall be remitted directly to the Bliistt trust fund account. (JC)
