Thursday, September 11, 2008 Cajucom: A Perfect World By Regina Cajucom Serendipity Couch
I HAVE not been in my element these past weeks. If you have been checking out my recent articles, this is actually an understatement. We try our best to look at the bright side, but there comes a time when we cannot just turn our head the other way and pretend that there is nothing wrong with the world.
I am blessed with three lovely, smart, adorable daughters -- Kayla (Celina ikhaille), Gelai (Angeli Mikaelle) and Nadine (Bernadine Mikaela) -- and they are enough blessings for a lifetime. But as I sat in my Mama's bedside (my makeshift couch for the time being) one quiet evening this past week, my thoughts were filled with wishes for a perfect world for my kids.
I wish for a perfect world where there is no prejudice, no hatred, and no crime.
A perfect world where there is no hunger, no disease, no pain.
A world where money really is of no importance and where time can be stopped at will; a world where the formal education of each and every child is given paramount consideration, and where the welfare of the elderly is not a trivial matter.
A world where no one is in a rush, and where there is really time to stop and smell the roses.
A world where peace is attainable, where poverty can actually be eradicated, and where the suffering masses do not have to wait for the afterlife to get the justice they deserve.
I wish for a world where no guy will ever break my little girls' hearts, and where it is possible to live happily ever after.
But we live in such an imperfect world.
Come to think of it though, we were never really promised a life that is fair, and we can only take comfort in the fact that God never gives us something we cannot bear.
If I could spare my kids from all the heartache, pain, suffering and injustice in this world, I would. But it's probably a good thing that I couldn't, because these trials in life will make them better, stronger when they are left out there on their own in this battle called LIFE.
You have probably heard of "The Serenity Prayer". I am sharing it today especially to those who are troubled:
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it.
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next.
May we all be sustained by God's love and promise.
