Kalinga bet shines in Baguio Day's Cup

KALINGA native Ike Agamo took the top honors in the 40-kilogram (kg) category to win the gold against Baguio bet Noel Olod in the recently concluded Baguio Day's Cup Muay Luzon Invitational Championship at the Igorot Garden.

Bernie Bumakil disposed of Mark Tura in the championship of the 45-48 kg category while Marlon Bimmahat took the gold in the 48-51 kg category while Harvey Dakmay and Elmer Magastino salvaged silver and bronze, respectively.

Benedict Alumno claimed the gold in the 51-54 kg category while Maiko Fernando settled for silver and Charles Magulin together with Biondi Dayangadang salvaging the bronze in the slugfest joined by teams from the National Capital Region, Makati City, Ifugao, Benguet, and Baguio slugging it out in the one-day tournament.

In the 54-57 kg category, Ryan Jakiri bagged the gold while Joey Dulnuan took home the silver. Sherald Piog and Martin Hagdaan settled for the bronze medal in the category sponsored by the City of Baguio, Vitalite Gym, Philippine Sports Commission Cordillera, Muay-Cordillera Chapter, BIR Regional Office, Muay Association of the Philippines and Rhea Eficacent Oil.

"Although it is the first time it had been scheduled on the first day of the week which is a working day, we still had a sizable crowd watching this exciting event," organizer Brent Velasco said.

Jasper Lim disposed of Jobin Francisco to claim the gold in the 57-60 kg division while Bryan Cawas salvaged the bronze medal.

Jeffrey Dalawidao took the gold medal honors in the 63-67 category beating Michael Franco who settled for silver and Bryan Paleyen receiving the bronze medal.

Precious Ocaya claimed the top honors in the female category bagging the deadly rose award in the tournament.
