More lighting in villages pressed

BAGUIO City Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas is pushing for the improvement of and installation of additional lighting systems in the barangays to avoid the prevalence of crimes.

The proposal is in response to current developments done in barangays where new alleys, streets, access roads and additional easements are opened up in some barangays.

Fariñas said streets which are not properly lighted become hangouts of robbers and bystanders who take advantage of the dark to pounce on their victims.

Fariñas said barangays should conduct an inventory of all roads, alleys, streets and parks which need lighting equipment.

Submission of location maps, a sketch of the areas, an estimate of the cost of materials, labor and the amount for the lighting project could help in fast tracking plans for lighting some areas. (RO)
