DESPITE being shut out in the 12 badminton games, the Philippine National Police (PNP) Press Corps Cordillera took home the overall championship in the second Police Regional Office Cordillera-Media dual meet at the Coyeesan Sports Center Saturday afternoon.

In men's volleyball, PRO-Cordillera proved too hot to handle to dispose the Media's cause in two sets 25-10, 21-25 in 30 minutes of play to level the count in the overall standing, 1-1.
In the scrabble competition, PRO-Cordillera avoided an almost perfect game from the media but fell short with media taking a two game win against the police officers to earn the lead in the standings 2-1.
Philippine Daily Inquirer's Frank Cimatu earned 297 points to outscore Cherry Olucan's 246. Cordillera Today's Maria Elena Catajan totalled 347 against Christopher Tenorio's 268 for the win while PRO-Cor's Cherry Ann Olucan earned 318 against Charmagne de Guzman's 278.
The police officers on the other hand shut out the media in the badminton events winning all the 12 games scheduled for the day to level the standing at 2-2 apiece.
With the games drawing to a close, the media basketball team drew big games from its veterans to win the basketball event, 79-82 to claim the overall championship in the dual meet organized by the PNP Press Corps and PRO-Cordillera.
Karitoon.com's Richard Fablatin scored 22 points including ten blocks to lead the charge for the Media with Sky Cable's Rudy Vergara contributing 14. Slotman Bobby Bio of Mt. View Satellite Corporation chipped in 13 and Bombo Radyo's Christopher Peria's 10 points.
PRO-Cordillera was led by Felix Dizon's game high 24 points drawing help from Edward Cutiyog's 18. Elmer Cereno and Fermolye Meno added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
"After almost 10 years, the second dual meet was finally realized and we would like to thank the police regional office for their effort in bringing the media and the police together for a day for sports and camaraderie," PNP Press Corps Cordillera President Jonathan Munar said during the closing ceremonies.
Chief Superintendent Eugene Martin, director of the regional police, meanwhile said the event was not only a part of their trust building with the media but also a good opportunity for both to showcase their skills in the sports activity. (Roderick Osis)
