By Roderick Osis

JERRY Lindawan ruled the Baguio leg of the National Milo Marathon elimination for the second straight time Sunday morning to earn another berth in the Nationals Finals slated next month.

The Benguet State University (BSU) education graduate pulled away from his four rivals in the first five kilometers on the way to winning the top purse of P10,000.

Six-time Milo champion Roy Vence finished a far second. Along with three other runners, Vence challenged Lindawan early in the race but they faded one after the other as they failed to keep pace of Lindawan.

Vence clocked 1:18.07. Rommel Flora checked in third with 1:21.53 while Joel Bengay came in fourth with 1:22.06.

Vence and Flora joined Lindawan to the finals slated on November 30 to challenge defending champion Cresenciano Sabal for the title and the P75,000 top prize.

Flor Donos shared the day's honors with Lindawan by topping the distaff side in 1:36.46. Mary Rose Sugot and Rowena Francis placed second and third, respectively.

Donos, Sugot and Francisco, won P10,000, P6,000 and P4,000, respectively, and likewise advanced to the finals.

Cesar Castaneto Jr. clocked in 18:27 to win in the five-kilometer run, beating Allan Valdez' 20:35 and Joane Jimenez' 20:38.

In the women's 5k run, Alice Kate Appari took the top honors clocking 24:24. Divina Kitongan salvaged the second spot with her 25:12 time. Ronisen Sofla's 25:21 earned him the third honors.

In the 3k age-group awards, Paul Pasigon took home the six to nine age group championship in the male category while Sisa Mae Caronongan took home the award in the female category clocking 16:18.

Anthony Lugod won the male 10 to 12 age group with his 12:42 while Cattlea Carreon finished on top of the same age group in the women's category with clocking 13:11.
