THE first of its kind Kibungan Invitational Climb will be an exploration of the pride of place of the municipality for trekkers and enthusiasts.
Slated November 14 to 16, the trek promises to be an experience and fun, as this would give them a chance to see the interior places of the municipality such as its mountains, tourist destinations and potential sites.
This is a project of the local government unit of Kibungan, in coordination with the Benguet Provincial Tourism Office through the technical assistance of the Cordillera Mountaineering Society.
The three-day climb offers a unique picture of nature's elegance and exquisite beauty where one can view the majestic panorama of the town's rocky mountain ranges adorned with different rock formations revealing different images.
The town of Kibungan has been compared to Switzerland perhaps for the success of its “highland feel.”
The climb offers a visit to the town's majestic Mount Tagpaya and Mount Tagpew.
Mount Tagpaya is a rocky mountain standing at 1,980 meters above sea level. It can be reached within 4 to 5 hours from the Municipal Hall or 3 to 4 hours from the Mayos-Palina road through rugged and steep foot trail.
Mount Tagpew has an elevation of 2,100 meters above sea level which can be reached 6 to 8 hours from Mount Tagpaya passing through foot trails.
Mount Tagpew's western side is a mossy forest harboring various specie of endemic plant life. On the east, is generally a steep rocky range which could be viewed from the municipal ground.
Both mountains give a clear picture why Kibungan is referred to as the "Rocky Wall of Beauties," which apart from its nature's gift of elegance, are its panoramic rocky mountain ranges embellished with diverse shapes and patterns which cradles the town.
Registration fee will be at P1,500 inclusive of a t-shirt; a souvenir item; certificate; photo gallery and artifacts exhibit fee; a cultural show; transportation (Provincial Capitol-Kibungan and vice versa and Poblacion-Tanap and vice versa); lunch on first day and warm send-off dinner on last day.
Payments can only be made at the LGU-Kibungan Extension Office, 2/F ALS Bldg, Km 6 La Trinidad Benguet (beside the PGO-Tourism Operations Division, capitol) and or at the Municipal Planning and Development Office, Poblacion, Kibungan, Benguet
