Thursday, December 04, 2008 BCBC's sports photo exhibits launched
TWENTY-eight photographs from four local photojournalists will be put on display at Rumours bar starting Thursday to launch the sports photo circuits by the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC).
The works of Jogin Tamayo of the Baguio Midland Courier, Sun.Star Baguio photo-correspondent Milo Brioso, and young photojournalists Richard Balonglong and Kendrick Yacuan of Cordillera Today will be put on display for at least a week at the favorite watering hole of local journalists.
The photos will be on sports, particularly on the recently concluded Baguio Benguet Educational Athletic League that the four photojournalists covered for their respective newspapers.
The works were earlier put on display at the University of the Cordilleras (UC) and launched during the Media Sports Awards where UC and Saint Louis University athletes had the most awards.
Many of the photos saw print in the local papers and focused on basketball and volleyball for both men and women.
It will be the first stop of the exhibit, which is slated to go to the University of Baguio next where Yacuan is a senior mass communication student and Tamayo a second year nursing student.
From there, it is expected to move to Saint Louis University where Balonglong is a senior mass communication student.
Meanwhile, the Rumours photo circuit is expected to be formally launched next week after the conclusion of the sports photo exhibits.
"We expect to launch the project next week after the sports exhibits," said exhibit chairman Zaldy Comanda.
Aside from sports, the categories are: Page 1, View from the Deck, Location/Travel, Christmas in Baguio, Panagbenga, and Festivals.
BCBC president Pigeon Lobien said the photos will be on display for at least three months, two weeks each at Rumours. Then it will be brought to the various schools and at SM City, he said.
Lectures, seminars, and workshops will be undertaken for the benefit not only of local journalists but especially of students.
Lectures will be on location, hard news, profile, and PhotoShop/Lightroom as well as photo captioning.
