Friday, December 19, 2008 117 new cops assigned to PNP-CAR By Ernie N. Olson Jr.
A TOTAL of 117 police recruits, who just finished their six-month field training program here, were received as regular members of the Police Regional Office (PRO) in Cordillera Wednesday.
The reception ceremony was led by Supertindent Ernesto Gaab, PRO-Cor Mobile Group director, at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet last December 17.
Of the 117, 21 are female and are projected to be assigned to different provincial police offices within the region.
These new police officers will be deployed with the rank of Police Officer 1 in a permanent status.
The Field Training Program (FTP) is an on-the-job training of police recruits in the fields of operation, investigation, traffic and administration in different police stations within the Cordillera.
The police recruits entered the Philippine National Police on December 1, 2007 and graduated their Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) with the class name of "Mabalasik" at the Cordillera Administrative Training School (Carts) of the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) last June 13.
After their PSBRC, they underwent FTP for six months starting on June 14 within the areas of responsibility of the Baguio City Police Office, Kalinga Provincial Police Office and Abra Provincial Police Office, which culminated last December 10.
According to PRO-Cor director Eugene Martin, "the field experience of these newly-assigned police officers is coupled with their dedication and utmost discipline in the discharge of their duties and responsibilities prior to becoming a full pledged policeman."
He said these new members of the PRO-Cordillera, who shall be deployed to the different provincial police offices, particularly the provincial police mobile groups (PPMGs), will be of great help in the region, especially in the maintenance of peace and security.
Mobile groups are strike forces, which conduct operations anywhere in the region.
