Journalists bow to Inmates in WCBIT
By Roderick Osis

WARDEN'S Team Tartarians scored a big win against the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC), 101-70, as it remained on top of the standings in the Warden's Cup Basketball Invitational Tournament (WCBIT).

BCBC waxed to an early lead at the start of the ball game with a 0-6 lead, but the Tartarians battled their way back to stop the streaking journalists with a 12-6 lead at the end of the first period.

The Warden's team then took control of the ball game all the way to the end of the fourth period notching their fifth win against three defeats.

BCBC, on the other hand, remained winless in the tournament suffering their fourth defeat in the tournament being held at the Baguio City Jail basketball grounds.

Although the BCBC has yet to win, the team gave away hundreds of used clothing including toiletries for the 385 inmates.

"This has become our yearly program since we started it in 2006 and at the same time, share our blessings for the less fortunate inside the city jail," BCBC head coach Zards Gacad said.

Gacad said the clothing came from the players themselves while the toiletries where donated by supporters of the team.

"This is also our simple Christmas gift to our brothers and sister inside the city jail who cannot afford to buy their clothing and things they needed," added Gacad.

Meanwhile, BJMP is tied with Victoria farms totting a clean four win slate while JVG and Sponge Boobs are bunched in third with three win records.

UC has two wins with one loss for solo fourth place. Fourteen teams are currently seeing action in the tournament.
