MTB in excite
By Connie Del Rio

THE cast of the ABS-CBN afternoon program Magandang Tanghali Bayan or popularly called MTB gave themselves a hell of a break after their show at the Limketkai Mall last Saturday afternoon.

This as that evening they danced, jammed and partied on at one of the city's hottest bars, Excite, till the wee hours of Sunday morning.

The usual savvy crowd of Excite went all groovy that night as they danced together with Amy Perez, Dominic Ochoa, Mystica, Angela Velez, Celina, Randy Santiago, Janna Victoria, Bayani Agbayani, Bentong and their crew for more than an hour moving to the tune provided by two local bands here.

April Boy, John Estrada, Vannesa del Bianco, Roderick Paulate, Bobot Mortiz and Gary Lim among others were also around this time not basically to entertain the crowd but to unwind themselves with good food, cool music and gigs that the city has to offer.

Nevertheless, Randy Santiago never failed the crowd when they requested him to sing a Santana song. Later Excite owners surprised birthday boy Dominic Ochoa with a cake as everybody sung Happy Birthday to him.

Dominic for his part responded by giving a heartfelt Five for Fighting's "Superman" rendition.

"Yes, I am very happy...thank you all," the former cast member of the popular Whattaman televsion soap told the owners and the people around him.

During a group interview, the MTB cast told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that Cagayanons are to them very friendly, appreciative and kind.

This despite the fact that they have to be whisked away in a six-by-six truck after their afternoon show due to the heavy downpour of Cagayanons who jampacked the Limketkai grounds leaving only a one way exit - straight out of the front stage to the streets!

When asked if they felt harassed by the crowd, one of MTB hosts, Randy Santiago said, "It is every artist's fulfillment to gather a lot of people, who despite the hot weather and long hours of standing still continued to be with us."

The group all chimed in that definitely the whole MTB show was a success and so was their unwinding at Excite.

They said their parting message is can only be a huge "Thank You" for the great crowd at Limketkai and at Excite and for all the hospitality Cagayan de Oro has extended to them.

Establishment owner Karen Rolida told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that they are only too pleased to sponsor the MTB casts' gig last Saturday.

"It was not only a privilege and a pleasure but it was fun not only for the crowd but for us too," she said with a huge smile.

Del Rio is currently a thrid year law student of Xavier University College of Law and loves to write about the local and foreign entertainment world as a pasttime -Eds
