Brgys in Bukidnon part of Oro: Sia

SOME portions of Barangay Alae, Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon are said to be within the territorial jurisdiction of Cagayan de Oro City.

Councilor Juan Sia, chairman of the City Council's Arbitration Committee said this following an ocular inspection conducted in these areas recently.

The technical team reportedly used the boundary lines marked as Provincial Boundary Monuments nos. 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 30-A and 64.

Sia said Engr. Regino Galceran reported to them the location of Bukidnon's welcome sign, checkpoint as well as the public market of Alae are all part of the city's territory.

In relation to this the council passed a resolution to this effect.

The resolution requests the regional Department of Environmental and Natural Resources-10 (DENR-10) to effect the relocation of technical provincial boundary monuments between Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro.

The council also asked the DENR-10 to facilitate and spearhead a conference between officials of both provinces anytime this week.

Vice-Mayor John Elizaga is expected to meet with officials of Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon and Bukidnon province for a preliminary conference regarding boundary issues today.

In another development, the first ever ceremonial laying of boundary monuments was held between Barangays 1 and 2.

The activity marked the first time when Cagayan de Oro managed to define the respective boundaries of its barangays as mandated under the Local Government Code. RY
