NorMin leaders doing all to lure investors to R-10 By Rubelyn Yap
THE political leaders in Northern Mindanao have so far worked hard to ensure a stable peace and order climate in order to make the region more attractive to domestic and foreign investors.
Cabinet Officer for Regional Development (Cord) 10 assistant George Goking said this as he affirmed that Region 10 is now leading others in the country in terms of progress and development.
"One thing is sure why all investors are coming here it is because the political leaders of this region are working for peace and order, the best asset the region has," he said.
The Cord assistant said so far most of Northern Mindanao's leaders have not allowed political affiliations to stand in the way of development.
"Everyone here is working for progress and development," Goking said, adding they are grateful these officials are working hand in hand for development.
The Cord assistant said all projects in Region 10 and in the city are now being coordinated by the office in order to fasttrack its implementation.
These projects, he said, include the Laguindingan International Airport, the Panguil Bay Bridge, the National Steel Corporation (NSC) and Mindanao International Container Port (MICP).
Emano said Samsung officials would arrive next month in the city to follow up on the airport project which is under the Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC).
Goking said Agriculture Secretary and Cord chairman Luisito Lorenzo, who went with Emano in last year's trade mission in South Korea, is inviting other investors into the region.
Panguil bay is now under the feasibility study of the Japanese government, which plans to fund the project while the NSC is still open for bidding.
The Mindanao International Container Port project is nearly finished with Phase Two to be inaugurated this September.
Recently Emano announced that San Miguel Foods Corp. is establishing its plant in Tagoloan town, Misamis Oriental.
A Fortune 500 firm named Beatrice Food Inc. inaugurated their plant while Steaniel Manufacturing Corp. is thinking of investing in the region.
