Samsung seeks foothold in Oro By Rubelyn Yap
SAMSUNG executives said they are aiming to establish Cagayan de Oro as "Samsung City" following the opening of their Samsung Digitall Service Center at Graphic All-in store along Capt. Vicente Roa street, this city.
Noel Dajao, Northern Mindanao branch manager of Samsung Electronics Phils. said among the key cities in the country the company is focusing on developing its ties to Cagayan de Oro since the people and City Government is very responsive to them.
"Cagayanons are very keen supporters of Samsung, a distinction that only Cagayan de Oro has. The opening of our service center shows how big our support to Cagayanon market is," he said.
He said city residents are not only patronizing their handyphones but also their other electronic products. The DigitAll Service Center will provide Samsung cellphone owners with local support and fast response time.
Dajao said they will double efforts at enhancing customer satisfaction and provide customers with after-sales service from accredited Samsung product specialists.
Dajao said their center will serve as a showroom for new Samsung hand-held phones, enabling customers to avail of free downloads of service applications, icons and ringtones.
Customers can also purchase other phone accessories such as casings and battery chargers, he added.
Dajao said they chose Graphics to be the home of their service center since it has the largest sales and remains the strategic partner of Samsung in the city.
For his part Lito Munoz, consultant of Graphic All-in stores said they are very happy and flattered about Samsung's choice.
Country manager Kenny Khoo of First Asia Mobile Inc., the distributor of Samsung products in the Philippines said he was happy with the sales of their products in the market especially in Cagayan de Oro.
"Our products are increasing without fear. Our new model demand is looking up and we are the company who cater to what our local market wants," he said.
He said they are doing very well in the city because they know Cagayanons want and they provide them with it.
Later Samsung Electronics Philippines vice-president for sales and marketing Martin Maengdal Bae said while they accept the fact they are the second in-demand brand in the market with public support they can provide better services.
Bae said inspite of the competition their company achieved
a large market share in the local cellphone market.
"In order to achieve leadership status in the category, it is Samsung's responsibility to our customers to extend that investment by establishing a service center in the Philippines," he said.
He said their cellphones are durable and has many features that people can enjoy using. The service center is Samsung's pilot project that builds confidence to their clients.
Samsung is planning to open more DigitAll Service Centers nationwid, with five centers in Metro Manila and the remaining located in Baguio City, Davao City and Tacloban City.
