CMOFA team lands in football finals By Jimmy Frias
CMOFA-MODTRADE advances to the 2004 Philippine Football Federation (PFF) National Finals after dominating the sub regional finals Sunday at Iligan city.
Cagayan de Oro-Misamis Oriental Football Association (CMOFA) officials and members expressed joy Sunday morning after learning of the team's remarkable feat.
Cmofa-Modtrade clinched the national finals slot via a 10-0 win over Caraga Region.
Cmofa-Modtrade led in the first day of the tournament by nailing Bukidnon (7-0) in their first game and leveled with Iligan city (2-2) in the second game.
"Pag-over-all leader sa atong pambato niadtong Sabado, high hopes na ang association," said CMOFA president Allan Abellanosa.
Iligan city fell short in points and just enough to land in second place. It beat Bukidnon (5-3) and Caraga Region (7-1).
But the victorious hearts of the association did not end up there in expressing sentiments of the Modtrade-sponsored Cmofa team.
Abellanosa said the team's feat inspired the Cmofa president and officials to bid in the PFF to stage the National Finals here in the city.
The association is hopeful that PFF will grant Cmofa's request to host the national finals here.
