Bukidnon cop chief ambushed
THE police chief of Don Carlos Bukidnon was gunned down by still unidentified persons in an ambush near his home Saturday.
Police precinct chief Insp. Angelo Vallescas sustained several gunshot wounds in various parts of his body.
Regional police director Chief Supt. Nicolas Pasinos ordered a manhunt for the suspects, the results of which had yet to be known as of press time.
Initial investigation revealed Vallescas was headed to the office on board a motorcycle when he was shot down by the three unidentified persons.
According to a radio report, the suspects even took the motorcycle ridden by Vallescas and then abandoned it several kilometers from the crime scene.
Police believed that the suspects were waiting for the police chief to come out of his home and head for his office.
According to witnesses they have noticed the evening before that three persons were drinking at a store near the crime scene.
The Don Carlos police precinct then undertook an operation to stop the suspects but they were unable to come out with anything.
The police had yet to uncover whether the motive behind the incident is either personal or related to his work.
Prior to this the PNP-10 office had issued directives to its offices to step up security in their areas of jurisdictions. (Jenefer Besere)
