Cagayan de Oro College, Pilgrim thrash foes in Prisaa tilt
By Lynde Salgados

ROUT became the order of the day as Cagayan de Oro College Scorpions and Pilgrim Christian College debuted with a bang in the 2004 Prisaa basketball tournament Wednesday at Pelaez Sports Center.

Unlike the opening victories of Liceo Titans and Acsat Wildcats being greeted by serious resistance by the oppositions, the Scorpions played unmolested opposite STI, 75-47.

So did the Pilgrim Warriors of coach Arvin Martinez in molesting Lourdes College, 52-40.

"From the looks of it, the tertiary title is going to be a three-way race among Acsat, COC and Pilgrim. Pero dili sab kakumpiyansaan ang Xavier ug Liceo," opined Ballpals president Pinggoy Castro.

Bajuyo and Trigosa led COC and Pilgrim's trouble-free ride in their separate opening matches.

Although it was the beanpole 6-foot-3 scoring machine of COC high school that caught most of the spectators' attention in the Prisaa cagefest.

"Obviously, he has a great potential kon naa lang siyay ambisyon nga himoon og bread and butter ang basketball," observed Castro, himself a former PBL cager, while watching Ricardo Cawaling and the COC juniors making mincemeat of their gravely-outclassed Lourdes counterparts, 59-24.

Xavier U's grade school dribblers also showed invincibility in overwhelming their opponents.

"Modesty-aside, it's really unthinkable to note nga naa man diay mabiyaan og 82-4 or something like that nga margin sa basketball," XU coach Manny Diaz told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro in jest before joining his junior wards in a huddle for their interesting bout with PCC.
