Lawyer secures restraining order against councilor
By Stephen Capillas

A REGIONAL Trial Court granted Friday lawyer Alejandro Pallugna's petition for a temporary restraining order (TRO) on opposition councilor and radio broadcaster Zaldy Ocon.

This came about even as Ocon, program director for Radio Mindanao Network (RMN)-dxCC, said he would deal with this development sometime soon.

During Friday afternoon's noise barrage done by media practitioners on the eve of International Human Rights Day, Ocon said he respects the court's decision and would make his own moves in respect to the TRO.

"I respect the court decision and would be waiting for further developments on this...probably a possible hearing on the TRO petition," he told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.

The TRO petition bars Ocon from issuing what Pallugna describes as derogatory remarks supposedly made against him in connection with the reported suspension issued by the Supreme Court (SC) against him.

Pallugna said contrary to reports he had not received a copy of that suspension order from the SC by the time Ocon made the disclosure during his "Koskos Batikos" program over at RMN-dxCC.

Pallugna had often been hired by administration officials to represent them in cases most recent of which is the court case on Ocon's 30-day suspension issued by the City Council.

Ocon managed to secure a preliminary injunction on the 30-day suspension which administration councilors plan to counter reportedly by seeking redress from the Court of Appeals in Mindanao.

Charges have been filed by Pallugna against Ocon and fellow broadcaster Joash Dignos in relation to his case.
