University-based dribblers in hot start

IT'S a sweeping finish for Xavier University (XU)-based dribblers on Thursday's opening of the 2nd Jolas Cup basketball tournament here at XU gymnasium.

Right after XU stamped its class against Capitol University in the 14 and under category, the host school's 12 and under hopefuls instigated a blistering rally to defeat the Corpus Christi School.

Xavier University made it three in a row after a thrilling win by XU-M over the Athletes 23 in the 17 and under division.

Friday's four-game matches saw Sacred Heart of Jesus Montessori School battling with its 12 and under and 14 and under counterparts from C-81/Global and Dynamic Pharmacy of sportsman Edu Alaba.

KHS clashed with PCC in the 17 and under caterory with Acsat taking the measure of Kevin Sardines in the 22 and under class.

"Three years akong pabalikbalik dito noon at nakita kong kapos ang mga kabataan natin sa larong basketball. Kaya pipilitin nating maging regular na ang Alaska or Jolas Cup taon-taon dito sa Cagayan de Oro," said former PBA star Isabelo "Jojo" Lastimosa during the opening ceremony. (LLS)
