The 40-year-old Adonis is known for being a hard-hitting commentator even singling out Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) program director Zaldy Ocon during the May election.

This radioman is also a known defender of Mayor Vicente Emano and his Padayon Pilipino group in his commentaries.

But Emano told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro that he has not even heard any report of Adonis being arrested.

Also, dxIF Bombo Radyo station manager Quinlog "Bombo Jun" Albino Jr. said they would be sitting on their hands over their own man's case.

Adonis has now hired lawyer Jun Dumlao as his legal counsel as the City Prosecutor's Office has now given him 10 days to answer the charges filed by three police officers against him.

Jail guards reported Tuesday night that this Bombo radioman is still currently detained at their Maharlika prison cells. Adonis has signed a waiver to be placed under police custody.

In an interview with Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro Tuesday, Adonis said he did not receive any special treatment from any police officer since his arrest late Sunday evening.

"Gipasaka-an pa gani ko ug kaso (The police even filed a criminal case against me)," he said.

Disappearing act

But there were suspicions that Adonis was given special treatment by the police.

One of the incidents was on how Adonis was allowed by police officers to go home allegedly to take a coffee break Monday dawn.

It was not until after some questions were raised of Adonis's disappearance and Police Inspector Rogelio Bonggo going to the broadcaster's house in Mabulay did Adonis resurface just wearing a sleeveless shirt and short pants.

Bonggo even said he would investigate the officer who allowed Adonis to go home.

Also, there were reports that Adonis again received special treatment Tuesday when he took almost the entire day at the Hall of Justice.

There were reports that Adonis made another disappearing act again Tuesday when police officers at Maharlika Police Headquarters said the radioman was at the Hall of Justice. But Adonis was not seen around at the Hall of Justice.

Jail guards, however, said Adonis has to attend to the charges filed against him and another pending case.

Meanwhile, Adonis denied reports that Emano is helping him out in his case.
"Dili na tinuod (That is not true)," he said.

Primetime

There were some city residents who believed that Emano should help Adonis out believing that the radioman has bolstered the chances of the city mayor and his Padayon Pilipino during the election period.

Just before the period for the application for candidates, hard-hitting radioman Zaldy Ocon suddenly announced that he was running for city councilor under the local opposition's banner.

Then out of nowhere, Adonis who was then a radioman from Davao City came to Cagayan de Oro City. He was surprisingly given a prime time slot at dxIF Bombo Radyo replacing Bombo Manny Agustero and started hitting at Ocon.

But Emano told this paper that he is not helping Adonis out as he does not even know of the arrest. "We are not even close," he said.

Meanwhile, Bombo station manager Quinlog promised that they would not intervene in the investigation of their own man.

"Kung duna siya'y tulobagon sa balaod angay siya nga manubag (If Adonis needs to answer for what he did he should be made to do so)," he said.

Influence

Quinlog said he has already issued a memorandum to Adonis for the latter to explain the incident.

He made it clear that the criminal aspect is already on the hands of the police while their station will be dealing with the administrative part
"Dili ko gusto mo impluwensya for the sake of delikadesa (I don't want to influence anyone for the sake of delicadeza)," he said.

"Personal crime ang iyang gihimo, off-duty siya,ug wala siya sugu-a sa Bombo Radyo... so personal na niya na nga look out (What he did is a personal crime, beside he was off-duty when the incident happened)," he also said.

This station manager also denied any knowledge of Adonis illegally carrying any firearm.

The city prosecutor said Tuesday it is giving Adonis 10 days to execute his reply-affidavit on the charges slapped against him by three police officers for illegal possession of firearms last Monday.

Adonis has executed a waiver that he would remain under police custody while the charges are still with the City Prosecutor's Office.

Pacify

Last late Sunday evening, Barangay 27 tanods heard a gun shot at one of the KTV-bars in their area. They immediately alerted Councilor Reynaldo Polosan who immediately called the Cogon Police Precint for some assistance.

Upon arriving at the scene, responding policemen Police Officers 3 Ramil Acero, Alfredo Suace and Catalino Poyatos Jr arrested Adonis and recovered from him a .38 caliber pistol. The gun was still loaded with five live ammunitions when police seized it from the broadcaster. An empty shell was also recovered from the scene of the incident.

Cogon police precinct investigator Senior Police Officer 3 Heracleo Babanto said Adonis was drunk when he fired his unlicensed gun at 9:30 p.m. in a KTV bar along A. Luna Extension.

The radio commentator only showed police officers a memorandum receipt and mission order from the 4th Military Intelligence Batallion, based at the 4th Infantry Division in Camp Evangelista, Patag.

Babanto said they did not honor the papers presented by Adonis as the law states that only permit to carry and license to possess firearms documents are admissible.

Adonis said he was only trying to prevent a young man, whom he heard would be attacking another man who happens to be in an intimate relationship with the KTV bar owner.

He said he fired it at the ground to scare the teen-ager and avoid further trouble.

"Nag-pacify lang ko ug dili indiscriminate firing ang akong gihimo (I only pacified and I did not commit indiscriminate firing)," Adonis said. (Pilgrim Christian College Interns Judy A.
