DXJR, ABS-CBN in blazing start

DXJR-TV 39 and ABS-CBN debuted with a bang in the 1st Misor-Media basketball tournament which opened here Thursday at the Capitol grounds.

Relying more on set plays and teamwork effort, DxJR went on to pummel the PNP Press Corps, 85-50, with the foursome of Fabregas, Mabao, Un and Jamisola all scoring in double-digit numbers.

"Pero at least, wala nila napugngan si Jimmy Alapag," said Michael Bustamante in jest after he led PPC's offense with 25 points.

Also caught unprepared in the opening day action are the Sun.Star dribblers who were literally dwarfed by their towering rivals from ABS-CBN.

With the Twin Towers of Laguitao and Sobi-on wrecking havoc from inside the paints, ABC-CBN slammed its way to a lopsided 87-69 victory.

Aside from hitting a combined 48, Laguitao and Sobion lorded it over in rebound that opened the opportunity for pointguard Daguliat to convert 20 points from outside jumpers.

Sun.Star got 29 and 26 points each from Jonthan Lagrosas and Baloy Fernandez.

Games overseer Johans Caidic said the next scheduled games will be announced later on.
