Homeowners vow raps, Crown Asia to build water pump
By Lizanilla J. Amarga

SEVERAL homeowners of an upscale subdivisions threatened Wednesday to slap charges against Crown Asia Inc. for failing to properly address their water supply problem for four years now.

But Crown Asia Inc, a housing firm owned by Senator Manny Villar, nevertheless called for "calmness and teamwork" from the homeowners saying this problem would soon be resolved and that the second water pump is now set to be constructed.

Also, Grand Europa homeowners composed of those from Frontiera, La Buena Vida, Montaña and Portico disclosed that they are shelling out funds to buy distilled water for drinking and cooking, something that is not exactly part of their daily budget.

They said in the past they now spend some P500 to P1,000 a week just to buy clean water.

Already, Villar's media officer Avic Amarillo and Crown Asia Communities Philippines, Inc. president Ging Quizmundo met with subdivision homeowners at SM Wednesday.

Wednesday night, the two also joined the La Buena Vida Homeowners' Association in their board meeting at Pryce Plaza Hotel.

Quizmundo said they have already explained to the homeowners that they are now doing their best to bring supply of water back to normal.

She said they already paid Speed Drill 50 percent of their fees and would be starting today in suctioning and repairing their one water pump that services all four subdivisions.

"This will take us three weeks to two months from the time we start," she said.
In the meantime, Quizmundo promised to "strengthen" their water rationing system.

She said they would also try to store up water supply in their one water tank that would supply all 870 houselholds.

"We had only two water trucks then but now we have an additional two water trucks," she said.

But La Buena Vida Homeowners' Association Dodong Emano told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro lastnight that they would be filing charges against Crown Asia should the latter again fail to deliver its promise to solve their water supply problem.

He said he has been living at La Buena Vida Subdivision for over four years already and since then he has experienced water woes.

"We are meeting with Crown Asia top management right now and we would be trying to get from them a timetable on when water supply would be back to normal. If they would again fail we will be filing charges at the HLURB (Housing Land Use Regulatory Board)," he said in the dialect.

He added that they would be forced to file charges as their homeowner-members would be asking the La Buena officers on what action did they take to bring Crown Asia to task.

Nevertheless, Emano said they would still be coordinating their acts with the "block coordinators" and officers from the three other subdivision.

"But the filing of charges will be our last recourse," he said.

Montaña Homeowners' Association president Ann Cañeda and Portico subdivision homeowner Darcy Mijares said they would be coordinating with Emano on this move.

Cañeda said their group will not hesitate to join in filing the charges against Crown Asia once all the other subdivision homeowners would decide to take such an option.

"We have definitely the right to file complaints against them (Crown Asia)," Mijares for her part said.

Quizmundo for her part said they have been holding dialogues with the homeowners and have explained to them what happened.

She voiced hopes that there is no need to take legal actions as these matters "can discussed and worked out together."

"We have to be a team," she said.

But Mijares and several other homeowners last night voiced their dissatisfaction over Quizmundo's explanations and call for teamwork.

This as they went over to Bombo Radyo to air out their side on this matter as they also voiced fears that Crown Asia's promises would again prove empty.

These homeowners are would be seeking audience with City Mayor Vicente Emano during his regular radio program at the same radio station today.
