* Awards will recognize local businesses, SMEs
* Awards activity is patterned after the Outstanding Business Enterprise in Manila
THE Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation Inc. (Oro Chamber) launched its Most Outstanding Business Enterprise Awards in its second General Membership Meeting over the weekend.
In a press conference Oro Chamber official Ruben Vegafria said the awards represent an important milestone for the chamber as it gives recognition to exceptional contributions by local businesses, especially small to medium enterprises (SMEs).
The activity is sponsored in part by Microsoft Philippines Inc., HP Invent, Global Chips Technologies Inc. Parasat, Isuzu Cagayan, San Miguel Corp. and Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Later Oro Chamber official and awards committee chairman Elpidio Paras said the awards activity is patterned after the Outstanding Business Enterprise (OBE) awards held in Manila in which one Cagayan de Oro based businessman was nominated.
Paras said the committee is comprised of various members from different sectors and the activity is also done in cooperation with City Hall, Provincial Capitol, the Small-to-Medium Enterprises (SMED) Council and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
He also said the activity is open to all, even cooperatives so long as the participants are Filipino-owned enterprises with a minimum capital of P3 million.
The awards categories include the Best in Market Development Award, Best in Production and Technology Award, Best in Financial Management; Best in human resource and development award, Best in Social Responsibility, Outstanding Micro Business Enterprise award, Oustanding small business enterprise award and Outstanding medium enterprise award.
The Outstanding Business Enterprise Awards will be bestowed to the enterprise that earned the highest over-all points in the five awards categories.
Those interested to file their applications or nominations can do so at the Oro Chamber office at Cruz Taal/Capistrano streets this city. The nomination process would end sometime this September.
