Plaridel team makes it to knockout round
FOR the second time around, Maximo Deloso played the heroic role for the Plaridel Surety & Insurance Company-backed Zone 5 dribblers in the exciting basketball tournament here of Barangay Bonbon.
Positioning at the right place and at the right time just within the shaded area, Deloso got the loose ball off a rebounding mess and flicked it for the needed basket that sent Plaridel to the knockout round in Group B of the Junior B division.
"Parehas adtong last nato nga pagdaug..suwerte lang gyod kay sa ako gihapon nipa-ingon ang bola," said Deloso.
The heart-pounding 38-36 win over Private No To Drugs on Sunday secured the No.3 slot for the smaller but sturdy Plaridel cagers of team manager Arnel "Totong" Maxino who will face the No.2 BSC-Raagas team in the knockout match on Wednesday.
Winner of this will join virtual Group B qualifier Kobe Kent of team-playing manager Ruben Paasa in the crossover round along with the top-2 survivors in Group A.
Bannered by acrobatic Boning Biongcog, defending Junior A champion Boymar got massacred by Wolfgang `D Return but still made it to the Big 4 Round along with top qualifier Loring powered by the tandem of Kardo del Puerto and Oliver Bacod.
"Kulang lang sila kay wala si Buchok. Number 3 tingali `mi sa standing kay labaw man `mi sa Boymar sa quotient tiebreak unya daug pa gyod `mi sa ila kon win over the other nga rule ang basehan," said Wolfgang's all-around starter Jonathan "Dodong" Lagrosas. (LLS)
