Armed group offers 'services' to slain doc's kin
ARMED groups have reportedly offered their services to the Ilogon family if the latter would seek "instant justice" for the death of Dr. Ma. Cheryl Ilogon-Marohombsar.
One of the family members said there are groups such as the dreaded Kuratong Baleleng that expressed interest in capturing or killing Dr. Farouk Marohombsar, the slain victim's husband who is also the prime suspect of the crime.
But the Ilogon family member who chose to remain anonymous said they will not grab such offers and that their family will remain committed to lawful means of getting justice.
Parricide charges have been lodged against Dr. Marohombsar last Friday.
Marohombsar who is the municipal officer of Talisayan municipality, Misamis Oriental, is still being hunted by the police.
The suspect was last seen on June 11 at around 6 a.m. when he left their residence in Fernhill subdivision, Barangay Macasandig, this city, prior to the discovery of Cheryl's body.
Aside from Lanao del Sur, the native province of Dr. Marohombsar, police is still verifying other locations where the suspect may be hiding.
Marohombsar, however, has denied killing his wife in a press statement sent to Cagayan de Oro media.
He accused Cheryl's supposed lover of having a hand in her death, saying he and his children are the real victims in the tragedy.
The victim's relatives however denied Marohombsar's allegations.
"Ang iyang ingon kaduha na gihimo ni Cheryl nganong sa unang higayon wala man siyay gihimo nga aksiyon? Kong Muslim imong bana mora na ka og naghikog ana kong makigrelasiyon pa ka og lain?" (He said Cheryl cheated on him twice so why did he not take any action on the first instance? If you have a Moslem for a husband, cheating is like committing suicide)," a close fiend of the family's victim said.
Cheryl was buried last Sunday in a well-attended burial ceremony at the Oro Garden Memorial Park. (Jenefer Besere of Sun.Star Superbalita)
