China glass firm sends engineers to Oro, MisOr

A GIANT Chinese glass manufacturing company is sending over this month a team of engineers to conduct an ocular inspection at the sprawling Phividec Industrial Estate where they are interested to put up a whooping US$300 million glass factory.

This was recently revealed by City Mayor Vicente Y. Emano after officials from Hebei Jingniu Group of Xingtai City in mainland China informed him through a fax message of the team's visit in Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental on the third week of this month.

According to the city mayor, the technical team from the company will survey the feasiblity of the proposed 100-hectare project site at the Phividec Industrial Estate in Misamis Oriental and assess the quality of silica sand, a primary raw material used in producing glass products.

The city and region's peace and order condition and present business climate will also be considered by the team during their visit, Mayor Emano added.

The visit of representatives from the Chinese firm is a welcome development after Mayor Emano led the local businessmen, trade and provincial officials in a trade mission to China last month in an effort to lure big-time Chinese businessmen to invest here.

As this developed, Mayor Emano asked the Bureau of Mines-10 to produce samples of silica sand from the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Surigao and Bohol where the mineral is reportedly abound.

Once in his possession, the mayor said he could readily present the silica sand samples to the visiting team for quality assessment and evaluation purposes. (CIO)
