Wage board: Hike effective in June
THE salary wage order for Region 10 took effect last June 17, 15 days after its legal publication on June 2, the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) 10 said Thursday.
RTWPB 10 clarified the effectivity date of the latest salary increase after being inundated in recent days with inquiries on the subject.
The implementing rules of the wage order, RTWPB-10 information officer Myrna B. Callo said, is still pending with the office of Labor Secretary Patricia Sto. Tomas.
But Callo made it clear that "mere non-issuance of the wage order's implementing rules does not constitute impediments in complying with the new daily minimum wage."
Exemptions from the wage order are only applicable to employers belonging to the retail/service establishment employing not more than 10 workers; distressed establishments; new business enterprise and establishments adversely affected by natural calamities.
Aggrieved employees may file notice concerning non-compliant employers with the regional office of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) 10.
The new daily minimum wage rates are as follows:
