Kwarta Padala vs ZaNorte tonight at XU gymnasium
* Moreno, Emano grace the invitational cagefest opening ceremony
THE much-awaited Cagayan de Oro "Fiesta Invitational Basketball Championships" will roll off tonight at the Xavier University gym.
Cebu's exciting commercial team ML Kwarta Padala takes on the NBC's ZaNorte Hornbills in the preliminary match set at 7 pm.
"CDO cage buffs should not dare to miss this tournament `coz its a star-studded five-day straight event," said project chairman Jay Patrick "Yangky" Rollan of the six-team tourney being organized by the League of Municipalities-Misamis Oriental Chapter.
Host Misamis Oriental, which tries its very best to tap high-caliber reinforcements, will test the mettle of Aqua World Marinos in the main attraction scheduled at 9 pm.
Aqua World, Rollan said, is expected to parade the likes of towering centers Zaldy Realubit and Bonel Balingit plus acrobatic forward in former MBA superstar Peter Naron.
Other participatings teams are the equally strong Valencia Golden Harvest of mayor Jose Galario Jr. and Mindanao's well-tested unit from Davao, Montaña Pawnshop.
A motorcade around the city (Monday 1pm), followed by a simple opening ceremony at the Capitol grounds will signal the start of the pre-fiesta cagefest also being supported by Misor governor Oscar Moreno and city mayor Vicente Emano.
Tagoloan mayor Bambi Emano and Gitagum vice mayor Emmanuel Mugot will also be in hand to grace the opening ceremony.
