Bureau releases sketch on bomb suspect
By Danilo V. Adorador III

THE regional office the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) released on Wednesday a cartographic sketch of the lone suspect in the Tuesday explosions at City Hall.

NBI 10 Director Virgilio Mendez, however, explained that they still are unable to divulge whether the suspect belongs to a terrorist group or not, saying it might impede the agency's investigation on the matter.

Mendez also confirmed that the material used in the explosion was made from an improvised bomb.

Meanwhile, Councilor Maryanne Enteria said she would file a resolution "condemning in the strongest terms" the explosion at the City Hall Tuesday.

The minor explosion that occurred at around 2 a.m. created a minor damage on the French glass window located outside the kitchen portion of the mayor's office.

Enteria, who is also acting City Legal Officer, said the explosion was meant to project disorder in the city to discredit Mayor Vicente Emano's administration.

Enteria's office is just a few meters away from the site of the explosion.

"I don't believe it was an act of terrorism. It was a pure political machination aimed at sowing chaos and distrust among the local residents. It was an act of cowardice, a cheap shot," Enteria said.

Cover-up

Mendez did not give details on the composition of the homemade explosives pending their chemist's analysis on the substance collected from the scene.

Hours after the explosion, Emano immediately put the blame to the opposition political group. He said he has no doubt it was a handiwork of his political enemies.

But opposition Councilor Zaldy Ocon believes otherwise.

In his daily radio program "Koskos Batikos" at Radio Mindanao Network (RMN-DXCC) the fiery councilor said the explosion could have been done to cover up the present issues involving Emano.
