Strengthening communities through songs By Abigail Chee Kee-Malalis
BUILDING Christ's kingdom here on earth may not be a piece of cake. It entails lots of sacrifices and strong faith in whatever undertakings one may undergo.
In his effort to continually build basic ecclesial communities in the Sacred Heart Chaplaincy, Fr. Ramir Colanse, SSJV, through the concerted effort and support of the Parish Pastoral Council and Parish Coordinating Council in Canitoan, will hold Saturday what they dubbed as "A Concert for A Cause" at the Pagatpat Covered Court.
"Though a lot of obstacles were experienced in preparation of the concert, but then the positive aspect of it is that there is the parishioner's willingness to sacrifice their time for the success of the concert," Fr. Colanse said.
The Sacred Heart Chaplaincy yearly holds concert of different themes, be it Marian or Liturgical Concert, since the assignment of Fr. Colanse in Canitoan.
"I always try to make it a point that every chapel under the chaplaincy will contribute their own numbers/talents. In that way, it will become a venue for us in building a stronger bond and develop a closer relationship among the parishioners," he added.
The "Concert for A Cause," in a way, is a fund raising activity of the chaplaincy. "Since the church's structure is already dilapidated, plus there is a growing number of community which the church could no longer accommodate especially during Sundays, and other Christian celebrations, thus the concert is just timely. People may not feel the burden of soliciting since we can have something entertaining to offer them. This will help make the chaplaincy's dream of building Christ's kingdom a realization," Fr. Colanse said. This year's "Concert for A Cause" is far more different from the previous concerts since different bands were invited to grace the show. It is also a special venue for a particular band to have a reunion after 12 years of dozing from their usual jamming mood. This serves as a comeback performances of Alan Vizcarra (lead guitar) Ian Chato (base), Joel Villarta (drums), Adjong (keyboard) with the entry of Roy Rangcasajo (rhythm) of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Bulua.
The concert is also sponsored by MOR 91.9 for life and the Barangay Council of Pagatpat and Canitoan, Parish Pastoral Coordinating Council featuring the Sacred Heart Choir, Men's Choir, St. Joseph Choir, Holy Family Choir, Sto. Ni¤o Choir, Assumption Chapel, San Simon Choir, St. Michael's Choir, St. Cecilia and Children's Choir. With guest band performances of Hippolytus Band, Between Black and White Band, Zizz Band and Suvisco Minstrels with the special participation also of the Singing Priests.
This concert will not also be a success without the help and support of the following: Baging Daayata, Sol Daayata, Vicky Gayla, Mitz Abragan, Baby Daayata, Manny Chavo (concert director) Tony Faborada Bebot Olivet Monteros, Sising Taboclaon, Mulong Abelleja, John Damascu, Ne¤iel Larrobis (documentation), Henry Gatilogo and Jun Chee Kee (program facilitator).
