Southland warns under age cagers
SO, there will be sanction to be made. Alex Medes, project director of Southland Sports League, issued Friday a warning that appropriate action will be imposed against any violator of the age-limit requirement for the inter-school and inter-club basketball participants.
"Definitely, we'll not let it pass. A victory for any team found to have fielded under-age players would be reverted. We must obey the tournament guidelines and policy," Medes told Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Medes said it is also the moral responsibility of the league to check on the birth certificates of submitted names of players at the National Statistics Office, though he was quick to add that doubting Thomases have their own rights to do the same.
Meanwhile, Medes revealed that the MPSC's inclusion in the inter-school event prompted them to make a revision of the game schedules for this weekend.
The good news, however, for the local cage fans is the lowering of the league's general admission fee to P10 only.
On November 20, Subokin and Auto Planet and ABS-CBN will take the floor at 4 p.m., followed by another inter-club duel from Thursday-Sunday and GSIS Ball Club.
Taking the nightcap at 8 p.m. are the tertiary school match-up between SPC and host Liceo Titans.
Sunday's schedules are the following: 4 p.m. STI vs Pilgrim, 6 p.m. Auto Planet vs GSIS, 8 p.m. Liceo vs MPSC. (LLS)
