A decade of molding young Filipino minds
By Abigail Chee Kee-Malalis

WHAT started as a three-classroom preparatory school building, having only 14 students and two teachers in the row, now grows into almost a complete learning institution, with the opening of its 1st year high school only this year. The dream and effort of the founder, Oscar Salcedo bears enormous blessing.

Merry Child School started as a preparatory school in 1995, a non-sectarian and co-educational school imbued with Filipino National Ideas, Christian principles and humanitarian values. The school believes that each child is a unique human being, with body, soul and spirit. In each child are the seeds, the potentials, which when fully developed will make up the whole person.

The school aims to aid in the unfolding of this person, thus Merry Child School plays a very important role in the molding of the young to become mature, responsible and well rounded person eager to meet the challenges of higher learning in the complex modern world.

Ma. Isabelle Salcedo, school principal, gladly shares that amidst the many obstacles the school faced for a decade of existence, all those were triumphantly hurdled with the blessings and guidance of the Almighty. Salcedo, a member of Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (BCBP), together with his wife and Sir Kim and Teacher Mabel as well, religiously share the BCBPs vision to the young minds. Thus, the school prospers as it is now.

With its 10th foundation anniversary, Merry Child School continues to mold the young minds into becoming a well-rounded individual capable to meet the challenges of times. Various activities were lined up: a streetdancing competition for the graders and high school students with the "Panagbengga-inspired" theme, and a field demonstration for the Nursery, Kinder and Prep students. And for this year, the school prepares the 1st ever stage play "Somewhere Over the Rainbow," which will be shown tonight at the school campus. A must-see production of Merry Child School...

Kudos to the teachers who gave their time in guiding the children, to the school president, administrator, principal and staff who, unselfishly offer their time for the good of the children entrusted to them.
