Moro militants deny anew rebel recruitment

THE Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in a radio interview denied Monday that they were engaged in active recruitment despite ongoing peace talks with the National Government.

Southern Philippine Command military chief Lieutenant General Edilberto Adan has accused MILF of violating again a fragile truce.

MILF spokesman Eid Kabalu over dxIF Bombo Radyo said that even if recruitment of new members is not banned in the peace talks they haven't been doing so and in fact have been preparing a program to evaluate their recruitment process.

"This program is intended to weed out the scalawags from our ranks in keeping with our peace talks with the National Government," Kabalu said.

Earlier, Adan alleged that the MILF forces has continued to recruit and trained rebels in Mindanao and as a result, placed the peace talks at risk.

But Kabalu denied Adan's allegations saying that his group has not violated the truce and instead accused the military chief of scuttling the peace talks. (Stephen Capillas with a report from Sunnex)
