NBC to shift venue of tilt to Pagadian
THE Nature's Spring-National Basketball Conference pre-season series will shift to Pagadian City on January 11-15.
Dubbed as Mayor Sammy Co Invitational Cup, the five-day tournament lured six teams led by reigning NBC national champion Ozamiz Cotta of Mayor Reynaldo Parojinog, inaugural national champion Tribu Sugu of businessmen LIto GIllamac and Mario King, reigning PICAA Open champion Spring Cooking Oil of NBC President Nathanirl "Tac" Padilla, Valencia Golden Harvest of Mayor Jose Galario, Jr, Governor Manny Piñol's North Cotabato Braves.
The five visiting teams will test the mettle of the latest NBC expansion team Pagadian Explorers.
"The people here are excited to see the action int he NBC. This will help us prepare more for our rookie season in the league," Mayor Co said.
Meanwhile, the Valencia Golden Harvest scored a big win over more fancied Tribu Sugbu, 70-67, Sunday in the ongoing 5th Day Charter Open Invitational Basketball Tournament at the Valencia City gym.
The home team, edged on by the big crowd, staged a monumental rally in the pay-off period outscoring the Cebuanos, 25-9, for the come-from-behind win.
In the other game, North Cotabato Braves finally barged into the win column after nipping the Aqua World-backed Explorers, 73-69.
The semifinals of the tournament supported by Sulpicio LInes, Spring Cooking Oil, Molten and Prime Channel were played as off press time.
Valencia ended up on top and met fourth-ranked Pagadian while Tribu Sugbu, who lost the top position to the Golden Harvest played third-ranked North Cotabato int he semis.
